Decarborized

Decarbonisation pathways aligned with China’s goal to become carbon neutral before 2060.

Linking policy (“1+N” framework), carbon markets, high-integrity offset projects, and monetization models into one clear static hub.

China’s Dual-Carbon Targets

  • Peak CO₂ emissions before 2030
  • Net-zero CO₂ by 2060
  • “1+N” policy framework

Monetization Angles

  • Content & education (Ads / affiliates / premium)
  • Carbon offsets & consulting
  • Green investor & project pipelines

China’s Carbon Neutrality Plan – Before 2060

China’s dual-carbon vision: peak CO₂ before 2030 and reach carbon neutrality (CO₂) before 2060. The transition involves massive investment in energy, industry, transport and cities.

The “1+N” Framework

  • “1” – Top-level guidance: working guidance for carbon peaking and neutrality; 2030 peaking action plan.
  • “N” – Sector & regional plans: energy, industry, transport, construction, finance, agriculture, etc.

Key Energy & Non-Fossil Targets

  • Non-fossil energy share: ~20% by 2025, ~25% by 2030, 80%+ by 2060.
  • Scaling renewables, nuclear, storage and smart grids.
  • Ten actions: efficiency, renewables, green buildings, circular economy, low-carbon transport, and more.

Global Climate Strategies – Snapshot

China & Asia

  • China: Peak CO₂ by 2030, neutrality by 2060, “1+N” framework, national ETS expanding beyond power.
  • Japan / Korea: Net-zero by 2050, strong focus on hydrogen, CCS, and advanced renewables.
  • India: Net-zero by 2070; big renewables growth, later neutrality date.

Europe

  • EU: European Green Deal, net-zero GHG by 2050, -55% by 2030 vs 1990.
  • Renewables target ~42.5% by 2030, ETS tightening, CBAM on imports.

Americas, Africa, Middle East

  • US / Canada: Net-zero 2050 pathways, clean power, electrification, methane cuts, CDR.
  • South America: Forest protection, renewables, structural change; Brazil neutrality 2050 (mixed progress).
  • Africa: Energy access + renewables, green hydrogen, emerging carbon markets.
  • Middle East: UAE 2050, Saudi 2060; CCS, hydrogen, renewables from fossil-based economies.
  • Australia: Net-zero 2050; deep cuts by 2035, renewables >80% by 2030.

Global Frameworks

  • Paris Agreement: limit warming well below 2°C (aim 1.5°C); NDCs updated every 5 years.
  • Kyoto Protocol: earlier binding targets and mechanisms (CDM, JI).
  • ETS systems: EU ETS, China ETS, California, RGGI, Korea ETS, etc.

Carbon Offsetting Projects & Standards

Offsets can complement deep emissions cuts when they are high-integrity: additional, permanent, well-monitored, and transparently verified. Leading standards include Verra VCS, Gold Standard, Plan Vivo and others, using accredited Validation & Verification Bodies (VVBs).

Katingan Mentaya Peatland REDD+ (Indonesia)

Large-scale Verra VCS + CCB peat swamp forest project in Central Kalimantan (~149,800 ha). It protects peatlands from conversion and fires, reducing ~7.5M tCO₂e per year.

Methodology (simplified):

  • Baseline: model deforestation, drainage, and fire emissions under “business as usual”.
  • Additionality: show protection/restoration would not occur without the project.
  • Quantification: estimate peat and biomass carbon stocks, fire emissions, leakage.
  • Monitoring: satellite + field data; independent VVB audits over decades.

Mai Ndombe REDD+ (D.R. Congo)

Congo Basin REDD+ forest conservation project (hundreds of thousands of hectares) protecting tropical rainforest from logging and agricultural expansion.

  • Uses REDD+ methodologies to model baseline deforestation and avoided emissions.
  • Combines remote sensing and ground surveys for monitoring.
  • Community programmes on livelihoods, education, health, and land-use planning.

Together, Katingan and Mai Ndombe illustrate high-integrity forest carbon credits — large-scale emission reductions plus social and biodiversity co-benefits.

Offset Types & Monetization (Future)
